Product description
This edition has been totally rewritten as a result of the enactment of the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, which radically changes the statutory regime enacted in 1908 but also reflects significant changes in society. It seeks to balance practical advice of assistance to the members and committees of incorporated societies with detailed commentary of value to the legal profession.
This new edition also incorporates New Zealand and overseas Court decisions of relevance to the comprehensive replacement statute and, in particular, decisions of Australian State and Territory Courts interpreting statutes similar to the 2022 New Zealand Act.
The book will also be invaluable to the many New Zealanders actively involved in setting up and running societies and charitable trusts as it provides officers and members with the basic legal resources to carry out their tasks, while providing enough information to indicate when formal legal advice should be sought.
